Used as the front end for a direct mail CD-ROM promotion with the Universal Pictures upcoming release of "The Mummy" and Microsoft's MSN Internet Access. The main intention was to have the end user install MSN, and then visit a website, allowing the user to participate in a "mummy dig" game to win prizes. There were three other deliverables as part of the package: A mummy screensaver, a Universal Studios video promotion, and a Microsoft product catalog. When I first started to brainstorm with the client, our first issue was how to incorporate the different deliverables into one integrated screen. I proposed the idea of an old looking "treasure map"; meaning the CD-ROM was the map, installing MSN Internet Access would be your key, and visiting the site of the "mummy dig" would be your chance to win treasure. I researched Egyptian art and used photos as reference when I modeled the left-sided pillar in a 3D program. The most challenging of this project was incorporating the mummy logo, a modern treatment, into the old style I was trying to achieve for the whole page. The rest of the page was created in Illustrator and PhotoShop.
